Chamaerops humilis var. Argentea
Chamaerops humilis var. Argentea
Argentea (aka Cerifera) is the silvery-blue form of the Mediterranean fan palm. It seems to be every bit as hardy as its greener counterpart and gets more silvery-blue with a) age and b) sun - which is why the four in the pictured little cluster are not currently that blue-ey silver. (Noah would have had considerable success launching his ark had he tried it during the Spring / Early Summer of 2024 for most of the UK)
Currently being grown in community pots three or four at a time, the offer price is for one sturdy little plant, approximately 30cm tall, and just going (or gone) fully palmate.
A striking, fairly slowly growing palm for full sun (if you can find a very sunny spot - but it won’t complain about partial shade if not). Fully hardy for most parts of the UK unless we rolled back time to the frozen winters of the 60s and 70s…..
