Lagerstroemia indica (Crepe Myrtle)

Stunning flowering tree to around 8m tall with vivid pink or red flowers held on ‘panicles’ up to 20cm long.  Deciduous; but as a bonus has very attractive peeling bark that provides interest in winter. Easy to grow on most soil types; likes to be well watered / moist in summer.  Hardy to around -5 once past seedling stage.  About the most dramatically colourful small tree than can be grown outside in (milder) parts of the UK.  Sold as seedlings to about 45cm tall.
